| Department Overview |
| Markit continues to expand its test capability with the development of a test function in its Delhi office. This new team will support 60 testers located in Europe and North America. Current test teams are structured by product or product group, with dedicated testers working closely with individual developers and analysts in their respective product teams.
In 2010, the product test teams will transition mature processes to Markit India to benefit from cost efficiencies, extended test windows, increased ability to focus on new initiatives / less mature processes etc.

| Role Summary |
| Markit is seeking an experienced testing professional to join Markit India operation to plan, write and execute performance tests. Markit uses a wide range of applications and technologies, and the candidate should be comfortable working in multi-system environments and able to co-ordinate their testing across shared platforms
The required candidate must be enthusiastic and proactive and demonstrate a good understanding of performance testing methodologies combined with experience in gathering requirements, and delivering, developing and executing performance test scripts. Experience of multiple tools, including LoadRunner, is desirable.
This position will require knowledge of performance components and tuning for:
- Oracle databases
- Java-based web systems
- Globally distributed systems
Complex systems with large numbers of dependencies, feeds and interfaces

| Duties and Responsibilities |
|
| Establish a cross-product performance test framework |
|
| Reviewing business requirements and associated design documentation |
|
| Attending appropriate workshops and meetings to ensure a sound understanding of developments prior to performance testing |
|
| Coordinating the performance testing process by taking responsibility for overall progress and liaising with development, infrastructure and the business to ensure deadlines are met |
|
| Developing performance test plans, approach, scripts and reports |
|
| Identifying the appropriate performance test tool to be used, e.g. LoadRunner or other |
|
| Identifying and develop improvements in the performance testing process |
|
| Raising and resolving any issues / faults identified |
|
| Assisting developers and infrastructure support staff with performance tuning |
|
| Manage risk and take contingency action where necessary |
|
| Input to the company-wide testing framework |
|
| In addition to the above the candidate should have foresight to identify and comment on developments with the prospect of assessing whether they are of good enough quality to be released. |

| University graduate or equivalent, preferably in a computing or finance-related degree |

| Demonstrable performance testing experience in a complex Oracle environment, ideally RAC |

| Experience of different performance test tools, including LoadRunner and JMeter |

| Strong scripting / programming ability in relevant tools and languages |

| Strong SQL to interrogate and manipulate data when performance testing |

| Experience of setting up performance test frameworks |
