| Department Overview |
| Markit continues to expand its test capability with the development of a test function in its Delhi office. This new team will support 60 testers located in Europe and North America. Current test teams are structured by product or product group, with dedicated testers working closely with individual developers and analysts in their respective product teams.
In 2010, the product test teams will transition mature processes to Markit India to benefit from cost efficiencies, extended test windows, increased ability to focus on new initiatives / less mature processes etc |

| Role Summary |
| Markit is seeking an experienced test analyst to join its Markit India operation. This person will assist the test manager with growing a test capability from scratch. They will comprise part of a team capable of supporting global product test teams by:
- Running and maintaining automated regression test scripts
- Running and maintaining manual regression test scripts
- Developing system test scripts from functional specifications
- Running and maintaining compatibility test scripts
- Providing BAU test support
- Flexing product test teams as required
This position will largely involve hands-on test build / execution and require knowledge of Markit, ability to prioritise and plan requirements, and ability to accurately report test progress to the test manager and possibly other stakeholders. It will require knowledge of relational database theory, SQL, stored procedures and other data manipulation technologies. Experience of any of the leading automated test tool suites is required, to a code level (rather than record and playback). Ability to build custom test tools would be a considerable advantage, as would knowledge of financial services.
This person will report to the Test Manager in Markit India and the Product Test Manager in New York or London. They will help enforce and contribute to the central testing policy. |

| Duties and Responsibilities |
|
| Work with the Test Manager in Markit India and the Product Test Manager to meet product test requirements to the highest standards. |
|
| Liaise with individual product test managers and test stakeholders to plan and prioritise tasks in a timely and transparent manner |
|
| Contribute to the approach and methodology for testing software releases by working to agreed service levels and adopting a service management approach. |
|
| Identify tests that are suitable for build / execution in Markit India. |
|
| Prepare test plans, test scripts and test cases based on functional specifications and user requirements. |
|
| Liaise with development and the business to ensure deadlines are met. |
|
| Execute manual system tests and identify those that can be automated for regression purposes - assist with the development and maintenance of automated regression test suites. |
|
| Ensure defects and incidents are identified, prioritised and dealt with, and that any new versions of software are released in a controlled and timely manner |
|
| Comment on developments with the prospect of assessing whether they are of good enough quality to be released. |

| Contribute to the preparation of test summary reports. |
|
| Manage risk and take contingency action where necessary. |
