Department Overview
Markit Equities provides a suite of products designed to give immediate access to the data required for equity derivative trading. This encompasses indices, dividends and ETPs delivered in one validated and cross-referenced feed.
Role Summary
The candidate will be involved at the forefront of financial product initiatives in areas where Markit Group Ltd is the leader. They will integrate with the Equities programme as a technical team lead and WPF specialist, and oversee the implementation of one or more projects end-to-end. The role will be to head the US technical team of 2 resources (growing) and report to the Head of Technology in UK. The role will encompass being a WPF SME and will span the entire project lifecycle, with a focus on technical excellence from the project inception to its delivery: - Requirement gathering; - Technical design; - Development; - Component test; and - Technical test.
Duties and Responsibilities
Business requirements: participating in business reqs meetings and defining Markit’s future technical architecture
Technical design: using UML to model the required functionality in its entire depth and ensure industry best practices / design patterns are followed
Development: producing thought leadership in the area of WPF and implementing technical designs.
Component test: using automated framework to lock the code’s stability into a repeatable set of test scenarios.
Technical test: specifying and executing performance, resilience, operability tests. Proposing code changes and enhancements to improve the system in these areas. Pushing our testing to the highest degree of automation.

Experience working in the financial sector would be an advantage, in particular knowledge of dividends, indices and equities products, although is not explicitly required to apply for the role.
Management Requirements
Be comfortable dealing with senior individuals with a strong client and service orientation. As a result, any consultancy background or experience would be strongly preferred, although is not explicitly required to apply for the role.
