Department Overview
PV provides independent valuations of positions, primarily for buy-side firms, covering a large variety of cash assets and derivatives. It is a fast growing business which aims to achieve full coverage of client positions within the next year, thus requiring rapid further development of modelling capabilities.
Role Summary
Markit Portfolio Valuations is looking for an experienced quantitative analyst to work on specifying, developing and productionising models for the pricing of structured derivative products. The position includes responsibility for developing prototype model implementations and valuation methodologies, and providing guidance for the roll-out process into the production systems. A successful candidate is also expected to provide model expertise to junior analysts, help clients with model and methodology related queries and assist in the handling of unusually complex client trades.
Duties and Responsibilities
Take ownership of particular pricing models and methodologies, drive their development and ensure their proper implementation on the PV system
Contribute to the choice and development of new pricing methodologies, and to the development of new products for the PV business
Contribute to the design of methodologies to efficiently carry out valuation and other processes for clients
Provide expertise in the interpretation and correct handling of exotic structures
Meet clients alongside the sales team to provide technical expertise, thereby helping to grow revenues
Business Competences
Educational Experience
Strong practical industry experience (at least two years) in the implementation and practical use of derivative pricing models, preferably in credit or interest rates.
Experience with exotic derivatives markets
Some knowledge of hybrid derivatives would be desirable
Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem solving abilities
Good programming experience in C++, Java or a similar language
Master degree or PhD in a quantitative subject
Commercial Awareness
Requires an understanding of the practical use of derivative pricing models, their limitations and suitable controls
An understanding of development processes and timeline would be advantageous
