London and New York, NY – Markit, a leading, global financial information services company, today announced that Lance Uggla, its Chief Executive Officer, was placed third out of forty top executives in financial technology by Institutional Investor magazine’s “2010 Technology 40” rankings.
The Tech 40 honours senior executives and entrepreneurs who have risen to the top of their profession and continue to usher in a higher-tech future. Institutional Investor notes that technology, once “an operational backwater,” is now a transformational engine of growth for the financial industry. The Tech 40 executives were selected by Institutional Investor’s staff and editors on the basis of industry trends and developments, with nominations from outside experts.
Lance Uggla, 48, was praised for embracing technology innovation when founding Markit and for identifying new ways to apply technology, such as the Web, to financial services.
The 2010 Tech 40 survey was published in the July-August 2010 issue of Institutional Investor, one of the world’s foremost business publications which has ranked financial technology leaders since 2000.
