Markit is looking to further expand its Development Team in Amsterdam with a Java J2EE Developer with a creative and open mindset. The developer will be working with server-side Java technologies.
Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with the following technologies is essential: EJB, Servlets, Message
- Oriented Middleware (including JMS), JDBC/SQL, JTA, XML (Schema, XPath, XQuery, XSL), Web Services
- Familiarity with the following technologies would be advantageous: Spring, AOP, C++, Ruby, UML or other OO Analysis and Design technique, JBoss, Linux
- A thorough understanding of distributed systems and clustering mechanisms is a plus
- Familiarity with the following tools is essential: versioning systems (preferably CVS), Ant
- Familiarity with the following tools would be advantageous: profiling tools
- Familiarity with financial market data systems is a plus
- Understanding of the following software engineering practices: patterns, test driven development
- Ability at HBO/Academic level; actual qualification at this level in a computing-related discipline preferred; Sun Certified Business Component Developer is a plus
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to establish and maintain confidence
- Supportive and commercial attitude; independent problem solving; self-direction
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills; team player
- Fluency in English, spoken and written; Dutch is a plus
Profile:
The developer we are looking for will be working on various components of the Finance Engine. The Finance Engine is a collection of back-end components exposed through a client side library, the Markit Development Kit (MDK). Work includes both the API and the server-side components.
