Product/Business Development Manager, VP

Product/ Business Development (PBD) role, based in London and having UK and Pan-European sales territory and reporting to the Managing Director of the Markit Alliance Programme (AP).
 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The PBD will be the main driver of European revenue acquisition for the AP program and will ensure that the business goals are achieved. The SBD will be integral to the team structure – working closely with the Global Head of Distribution, the MD of the AP program, the North American SBD of the AP program, the AP support analyst and the Markit product management and sales teams. The products sold into the channel are: End of day market data for CDS (across the corporate, loans, asset-backed debt universe), European ABS, Intraday Feeds, RED, and valuation services. 

  • Duties specifically include:
  • Ongoing generation and prioritization of an AP-specific lead pipeline
  • Ongoing management of existing partnerships to encourage either new AP revenue or new leads for the general sales force
  • For bespoke deals, taking the initiative to structure and implement strategic, commercial and legal frameworks
  • Regular participation on weekly sales and distribution conference calls to keep abreast of company-wide product development and inform others of the
  • Program’s successes / challenges - whatever the case may be
  • Regular use of  Markit’s CRM tool (“Salesforce”) to record sales activity
  • Assistance in the forecasting, monitoring and reporting of AP sales
  • Contribution to the updating of the web site and all partner related sales collateral
  • Sponsorship of and attendance at European tradeshows
  • Back-up support for general partner queries when analyst not available
  • Internal information hub for industry /competitor developments

Skills and Experience Required:

  • University Education – preferably master’s level or equivalent and area of concentration finance / sales & marketing
  • Previous experience either as a SUCCESSFUL senior business development manager or a product manager working in a data, financial software or systems company
  • Has been responsible for results and budgets
  • Management Experience preferable but not essential
  • Very strong; creative in structuring deals (able to think out of the box) – will need to show track record doing so
  • Knows the industry, its players and its competitive landscape
  • Effective team-player,especially interested in contributing to the organization through collective reasoning
  • Positive, high energy and has a passion for Markit and making a strong impact on to the marketplace
  • French, Italian, German or Spanish preferable as a second language but not essential
