Technical Support Associate

Working within the Markit Equities Business Development team the role is looking for an individual to provide full technical support internally to the Markit Equities Sales team and to our new and existing customer base. The successful candidate must be happy working within a close knit team on a wide variety of ad-hoc tasks and projects and also have a sound understanding of technology.

Duties & accountabilities

With the ever-increasing product and client base there is a requirement for additional members of our Support Team with a specific focus on Markit Equities. This team is responsible for the ongoing primary client relationship across all of the equity products and is a key part of our operational structure. Types of activities would include:

  • Coordination of implementation of the Equities data feed within customer environments
  • Internal/External reporting
  • Answering system functionality queries Extract, manipulate and clean data from internal database via SQL
  • To interact with clients by email and/or phone and provide technical support on client sites
  • Look for Sales leads within an account and feedback to Sales team

Required Skills/Characteristics

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – both verbal and written
  • Must be able to convey complex ideas to a variety of functional and technical audiences. Experience with SQL databases, MS Excel, VBA advantageous

  • Ability to use own initiative and to solve problems
  • Interested in finance and in particular the Equities markets
  • Any experience of equities markets is advantageous
  • Foreign language(s) proficiency useful but not essential
  • Graduate or similar qualification or experience
  • Understanding of the financial markets and in particular the equity markets

The Support Team relies upon clear communications both internally and externally. A key competence of the team is therefore communication skills. As a member of a close knit, effective team, team skills are paramount in this role in assisting others, being able to be relied upon and in taking leadership where required.
