Job Summary
Leading initially 5 people in the administration of fixed income indices, with other asset classes, such as Commodities and Rates at a later stage.
The individual will build the index administration function from the ground up, including all necessary software and processes, and hiring.
Job Description
- The responsibility of the individual is to build, work in, and manage the administration of fixed income bond indices
- Administration of fixed income indices is comprised of:
Maintaining the static data database with up to date data on bonds in the index
Manage the regular rebalancing process (monthly for most bond indices) through the Technical Committees which are composed of major investment banks. This will include setting up and facilitating conference calls, preparing documentation, highlighting issues and driving to resolution where TC input is required, writing minutes - Write rebalancing reports, membership lists and index previews
- Provide second level help desk support to clients
- Prepare documentation for annual Oversight Committee meetingsThe families of bond indices that fall under the responsibility of the team are the Markit iBoxx indices in EUR, GBP, USD, JGB, Global inflation-linked, Global Emerging Markets Local Currency, Asian Bond Fund, European High Yield, Eurobond EM, and various liquid and custom indices based on these benchmarks
- The scope of these indices will expand quickly may also include the administration of indices for third parties, including multi-asset class indices and complex investment strategy indices (“alternative beta”)
- The individual will be responsible for the documentation of the administration processes and communication within the firm and with clients
- Furthermore, the individual and his team will support the Head of Index Design in the design phase of benchmark and bespoke indices
- There will likely be some rotation of staff members between Index Design and Index Administration
Required Skills/Characteristics:
- The individual needs to be, in order of importance:
- Technically skilled
- A team player
- Energetic
- Industrious
- Quantitative studies, such as math, engineering, finance, statistics or a science. No advanced degree required
- A detailed technical knowledge of fixed income indices, and working knowledge of equity, rates, commodities and derivatives is required
- Proven experience in administering indices for cash bonds and other asset classes traded over the counter
- Management experience preferable
- The individual is expected to be a strong team player, with proven track-record of working with people, including people that are not functionally aligned to them.
- We need someone who is detail oriented enough to build high quality, superior and robust processes
- The individual need to be a quality control and admin process super user
