Markit Buyside Working Group

Markit launched its first Buyside Working Group at a breakfast briefing on the 25th June 2008. The event, held at Mosimann’s Private Dining Club, focussed on key industry issues impacting buyside operations. This is the first in a series of quarterly events aimed primarily at the buyside community.

  • The Novation process and how vendors can assist in making the buyside agnostic to various systems (BlueCrest Capital led this discussion)
  • Equity derivatives affirmation and confirmation turnaround (CQS Management led this discussion)

Action points for Markit

  • Confirm status of float vs float (basis swaps) on Markit Wire – single currency basis swaps have been supported on Markit Wire since Jan 08. Cross currency basis swaps are being introduced in Jul 08 as part of Markit Wire Release 5.2
  • Markit will explore standard Novation fee calculator
  • Co-ordinate meeting between buyside and sellside regarding equity derivative MCA language
  • Product roll out on Markit Wire including Inflation Swaps and CFD matching options.

The next working groups have been scheduled for September and December 2008, and will be held again at Mosimann’s, 11B West Halkin Street, London SW1X 8JL
